Summer is Here!

Well Summer is upon us and time to head to the pool. Parker loves the water and it gives us a great way to cool off. With school out, I imagine Lindi and Parker will spend a lot of time splashing around.

As we approach Parker's 1 Year birthday, he now has 8 teeth, is taking up to 5-6 steps on his own and loves to babble. This kid is something else. He is real excited to spend the next 2.5 months with mom.

Say Cheeeese...

Parker's newest thrill is grin and show "all" four of his teeth when you say "Cheese." Where he got this from is beyond me, but it is hilarious. Shelby, our Golden Retriever, makes a similar expression when she has done something she shouldn't.... Let's hope it is just his way of smiling.

Parker has now past the 10 month mark and he can really get around. Two months ago you could set him down and that's where he stayed. Now you put him down and he's off...usually trailing you to any room in the house. He's still on all fours, but is getting braver by the day on standing up, balancing and wanting to attempt to walk short distances. He can hold on with one hand and walk a few steps around his toys and some furniture. Won't be long and he'll be stumbling around on his feet.

The spring weather has been nice so we have tried to get out as much as possible before it turns into a sweat box. Parker loves being outside.

Parker's First A&M Experience

Parker experienced Texas A&M for the first time yesterday and the Spring Maroon and White Game. Word of warning to all those parents out there, Kyle Field is not stroller friendly!

The game was a lot of fun...not too hot, not too crowded and the Fighting Texas Aggie Band finished off the afternoon with a great performance. We may have just started a yearly pilgrimage.

Lindi and I bought Parker a table he could play on and preactice standing and balancing. It is so much fun watching him learn and explore everyday. He is such a happy kid.

Parker is Mobile

Wouldn't you know! We head off on Spring Break to Cozumel and when we get back, we had more than sunburns on our hands....we have a fully mobile child! Parker was crawling reluctantly the first two days back, but by day three he was on the move.

No more setting him down and walking around the corner. He'll either be right behind you or into something he shouldn't.

As if that wasn't enough, I was forced to lower Parker's bed this past weekend too. We had put him down to bed and were about to eat dinner. Next thing you know I see the top of Parker's head close up on the baby monitor camera! Not a good thing. That was his first attempt to pull himself up. By the next night he did it...we watched on the camera as he pulled himself up to a standing postion four times in a row. Lindi got a picture and you can tell he was proud....so were we.

Daddy Daycare

It's my Friday off and Parker and I are getting to spend the day together. Boy, how things have changed. I use to get tense and nervous when I had him by myself for the day. He was unpredictable and it was always hard to figure out what he wanted. 8 months later, Parker has grown up and I have too. He is on a pretty solid schedule and I'm beginning to understand what makes him tick. If you put his schedule first, life is much easier and he is happier. Lunch at 11:15, check. Nap at 12:30, you bet...I need a break.

It shouldn't be long and he'll be crawling. He is already up on all fours and he rocks back and forth. Tooth number 3 is in and 4 is on the way. Having only the bottom teeth reminds me of a chipmunk. Did I mention how well maroon looks on the little guy?

Enough for now, duty calls.

Parker Goes to the Farm

We all loaded up yesterday and headed to the farm to spend the day with Nana and Pops. Parker loves going to the farm to see all the trees and ride in the golf cart.

Pops and Nana bought Parker a tire horse. He is still a bit small to ride it, but he did get to try it out for the first time. Not that we want him to grow up too fast, but we all are excited for the day Parker can go fishing with the boys...
On another note, Parker ate his first yogurt bites just the other day. Solid food, here we come. He is sleeping through the night and is discovering his voice.

Jan Update

Parker is getting bigger by the day. He is sitting up well and loves to play with anything that spins. Parker is very passionate and it is a blast to watch him play. He gets so excited and into what he is doing. The kid has drive and determination...no doubt.

For the first time, we took him walking in the Jeep stroller without his car seat. He did really well and I think he likes the view better. Watching what is going on in front of you sure beats looking at the sky.

I ran the Houston Marathon this past weekend and it made it special that Parker was there to root me on, along side Lindi, for the first time. I'd have to say that of the 26.2 miles, he was the best looking kid I saw. The A&M beanie didn't hurt his cause either.
