Early Work Ethic

Last night went really well and Parker slept like a champ. I woke up feeling well rested, but Lindi is still a bit tired, which I can fully understand. So mom needed a nap and Parker got to hang with dad in his office while he got some work done. I think he likes the office and spending some quality guy time with dad, but he sure hasn't taken to doing any work. For the past two hours he has been asleep then restless, then asleep again. Guess it beats crying. He's a dreamer though... He is constantly making sounds while he is asleep. I just wonder, what do babies dream about? A clean bottle and fresh set of diapers?

Anyway, I'm dreaming of another good night of sleep and an Astos victory to get them back to .500. Parker loves the 'Stros...not more than the Aggies, but a solid #2.

Better Day and Field Trip #2

What a difference a day makes. Parker was restless all day yesterday, but today was much better. Maybe it was just b/c he has wore himself out so much. Either way, it was a welcomed change.

Parker went on Field Trip #2 today to James Avery and Best Buy. With all the pictures and video we will be taking of him, it was time for a new computer and backup hard drive. We have been needing one for a while now, but I have been too cheap to do it.

This is going to be a short post b/c I need to take Shelby for walk so she won't feel left out. We don't want to forget about her!

Restless Sunday

Well, I guess it had to come sooner or later. Parker has been a real challenge today. Nothing has made him happy and he refuses to sleep. Restless is the only word to really describe his behavior. One minute he'll be sitting looking at you and the next crying like he hasn't eaten in two days. Hopes for catching a nap today are pretty much out of the question, but I figure all this activity has got to catch up with him sometime.

So after today I'm revising my 3 reasons for crying to 4 reasons: poop, food, to be held, and ???

Fourth of July

It was another day of first's for Parker. It is his first holiday and he also got to meet his cousins for the first time. Lindi's Parents, Grandparents and sister came over to have lunch and celebrate the Fourth. We all had a good time.

We were able to take Parker out on an errand yesterday. Lindi carried him in her over the shoulder sling and he really seemed to like it. Guess it reminded him of the coziness of the womb. Looked cramped to me.

Parker's eye has been having a bit of goo in it. Did some reading up on it the subject and found that it may be clogged tear duct. Good news is that it is not serious (if it is the tear duct) and should be treatable w/o going to the Dr. Sure am glad Al Gore invented the Internet. What would we do without Google.

A Week Under the Belt

Well, yesterday marked one week since Parker was born. What a whirlwind the last week has been. In my 29 years of life, and over 4 years of marriage, I never experienced so much change in such a short period of time.
Funny how strange everything is the first day or two, but now it all seems much more natural and normal. Parker is a great kid and Lindi and I are very blessed to have such a wonderful son...yes, even when he is crying!
Dad's first go it alone babysitting went really well. Shoot, it was such a quick trip to take and pick up Lindi from the Nail place, Parker never even made it out of the car seat. I took him out of the car in his seat (we have the car seat base that stays in the car...a lifesaver) and he hung out in Dad's office while I worked a bit. He was in a deep sleep, and if there is one thing I have learned, do not disturb a sleeping baby.
Chase and family made it back home to Pearland yesterday. Good to hear all went well and Parker is already asking about a scheduled play date.

Shelby meets Parker

Our baby up until June 25th (Shelby) finally got to meet Parker the day before yesterday. Shelby is a great dog and she has behaved exactly how we expected. For the most part she has somewhat ignored him, but always ends up laying down beside his cradle when he is sleeping.

Parker is eating and sleeping in his cradle better by the day. We have worked hard to put him down to sleep in the cradle during the day so that he will be more comfortable in it at night. Not full proof yet, but much better.

Dad may get his first full babysitting experience today. Lindi may go get her nails done and I have offered to keep the little guy. As long as he has a full tummy, I'm the guy for the job.

First Road Trip

Parker made his first road trip yesterday up to the very hospital he was born less than a week ago, so Lindi and I could see Chase, KP and Travis. He handled it like a pro. Nana K rode with us and was a huge help.

Chase is a cute little guy. KP and Travis were both tired as expected, but hanging in there. Hopefully they will be heading home tomorrow. Check out Chase --------->

We have had 3 pretty good nights in a row. Parker has been going around 2-3 hours between feedings and he mostly sleeps between. He has had trouble sleeping at night in his cradle and we do not know why. Maybe it is too flat or he does not feel tucked in enough. He'll start fussing and he ends up in the bed by Lindi. I'm not thrilled about the idea long term, but if it allows us a few hours of sleep a night...I can live with it for now.
